Witness

The Trailer :

Witness is a thriller released in 1985.

This movie talks about a young boy who is the witness of a crime. At first, the culprits didn't really know if the kid had seen the crime but when they understand that it's the case, he became a danger for them and they want to kill him.

So, a detective (Harrison Ford) tries to protect him and his mother bringing them in Philadelphia but as the killers are still prosecuting them, then he decides to hide them in the countryside. The policeman and the mother fall in love with each other and begin a relationship but the bad guys are still looking for them and seem determinated to catch up them...

With the end of the trailer (when the guy say "I know where you are" and then we see three men, two of whom have guns, walking toward a farm in the countryside), I expect to view a final crime with the sacrifice of the man who is played by Harrison Ford so as to safe their life and the woman could killed the bad men to protect her son. I expect a dramatic end with the detective's death but not entirely dark with refound freedom of the mother and the child.

BARTON FINK

This Cohen brothers movie, Barton Fink, was released in 1991. It's could be considered like a comedy and a drama, it was nominated for 3 oscars and the star actors who play into are John Turturro and John Goodman. The title character, played by John Turturro, is a Broadway playwright, based on Clifford Odets, lured to Hollywood with the promise of untold riches by a boorish studio chieftain. Staying in the eerie Hotel Earle, Barton develops severe writer's block. His neighbor, jovial insurance salesman Charlie Meadows, tries to help, but Barton continues to struggle as a bizarre sequence of events distracts him even further from his task.

Joel and Ethan Coen are two brothers. Both were born in Minneapolis in Minnesota (USA). Joel in 1954 and Ethan in 1957. Joel has been married and has one child. Ethan has been married too but he has two children. They are producer, writer and director and they did a lot of films together. Combining thoughtful eccentricity, wry humor, arch irony, and often brutal violence, the films of the Coen brothers have become synonymous with a style of filmmaking that pays tribute to classic American movie genres, especially film noir.

John Turturro is a very talentued actor. He was born in 1957 in Brooklyn in NY and he became fascinated by movies during childhood. He began with theatre but I played small roles during a decade but his breakthrough performance was in the movie Do the Right Thing in 1989 with Spike Lee.
In 1991, the Cohens cast him as the titular Barton Fink, a performance which garnered Best Actor honors at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 1992 he wrote and directed a little-seen indie feature that won him a Golden Camera award for Best First Feature at the 1992 Cannes Festival
In 1998, the actor again collaborated with both Lee and the Coen brothers, working with the former on He Got Game and the latter on The Big Lebowski.
Also in 1998, Turturro wrote, directed, produced, and starred in Illuminata, a comedy.
He was casted by others producer and played a lot of roles (small roles or lead roles)
In 2004 he worked for Spike Lee yet again in She Hate Me. In 2005 he wrote, directed, and acted in the blue-collar musical Romance & Cigarettes.
In 2011 he would join the Pixar family voicing Lightnin' McQueen's.

John Goodman proved himself both a distinguished character actor and engaging leading man. A native of St. Louis, MO, Goodman went to Southwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship, but an injury compelled him to seek out a less strenuous major. He chose the university Drama Department. Moving to New York in 1975, he supported himself by performing in children's and dinner theater, appearing in television commercials, and working as a bouncer. He contributed topnotch supporting appearances to such films as Everybody's All-American (1988), Sea of Love (1989), Stella (1989), and Arachnophobia (1990), and starred in such films as King Ralph (1991), The Babe (1992), Born Yesterday (1993), and The Flintstones (1994). Goodman did some of his best work in Matinee (1992)
Goodman appeared on series.
He also voiced the part of Baloo in The Jungle Book 2's (2003)

MY FREE POST

Martial Arts

"Martial arts" is a collective term which include each discipline about the self defence and the fighting arts in Asia. Mainly, I will tackle the case of Japan.

The most famous types are Judo, Sumo, Karate, Aikido and Jujitsu and they are classified in three groups :

- Martial arts with punches, strikes and kicks like Karate
- Martial arts with grips like Judo, Sumo, Jujitsu and Aikido
- Martial arts with weapons like kyudo and kendo

I'm going to speak about Jujitsu which means "flexibility, technical" is a martial art developed by Samurais, as part of military, in order to enable them to defend themselves without weapons whereas the opponent has his own arms. In those days, his purpose was to be used in battle or fight situations but then, this activity was extend to others disciplines and it have been considering more spiritual. Jujitsu is the ancestor of some martial arts like Judo.

Personally, among these martial arts, I practised Judo during 5 years and I have pratised Jujitsu for 3 years. Because of my travel in Spain, I have to stop my jujitsu activity in club but I continue to practice a little bit with some friends for the sake of it. However, I want to get down to work as soon as I come back in France to improve my skill in earnest. To learn how to fight is for me a passion and I even try boxing the last year but I have been injuring therefor I'm not able to go on in this sport.

Let's see the seven values of the judo moral code

Never hesitate to enjoy these sports !

Post 2

This document is a picture. More precisely, it's a touched-up photograph from a webpage. It deals with the upside of new technologies because we can make out in the background the suit and the tie of a man who is stretching out his hand forward and there are a lot of symbols and appliances flying above it.

On the one hand, the picture is composed of a blue green planet which is in the centre and surrunded by the three most important electronic devices of new technologies : a computer, a tablet and a smartphone. On the other hand, we notice a connection diagram between the icons, the devices and the globe. In order to go further, the different kinds of symbols are, for instance, a graph, a cloud, a plane, human holograms but also some emblems like the euro, the dollar, that of facebook and so on.

The author clearly wants to show the advantages of new technologies, draws the attention to the many possibilities that the Internet and the new technology make available to us. It aims to make us sensitive to the opportunity to share our knowledge around the world, to take advantage of the others' experiences, to access the social network, the world's information, the news, the arts such as music, movies, painting, as well as medical treatments or on-line gaming and shopping.

I feel concerned by this idea of progress because my generation was born with it and is growing up with these new technologies. They are in our daily lives and indeed, I'm using it to do my homework. Therefore, I personally think that there are really plenty of benefits even though the downside exists too but we have to grasp this chance which enables us to be open to the world.

Thus, don't forget to enjoy it (enthusiastically but cautiously!)

Internets Anonymous

On this cartoon, we can see two men in an office, one of them is sitting in front of a computer perhaps he's surfing the Net and he seems joyful. The second doesn't smile and is standing upright, waiting or listening to the other. We can note that they're wearing the same clothes ( a green T-shirt and a blue jean) as if it were the uniform of their company.
The picture can be understood as a criticism of the internet which might become an addiction or which incit to believe in an other world which doesn't exist and to forget real life with real people. The senselessness of this situation is that the man who is addicted to Internet, wants to kick his habits on internets anonymous and he does it on the Internet ! This cartoon aims to warn Internet users to be watchful about this kind of ridiculous circumstance.

This cartoon is representative of today's world and of our society absolutely conditioned by the new technologies, in particular with all things that the Internet propose. More and more people use these possibilities but they don't know the risks.
I don't feel concerned by this drawing because I'm very glad to be able to go on a lot of websites, on on-line activities but I'm not addicted to them. I know that in our time, everybody needs to access it but there's a difference between to be completely dependent on the Internet and just to take benefit from it !
Of course, the problem of Internet addiction is really serious and major and this sort of picture is something interesting, because it shows the absurdity of the dependence thanks to irony and humour. The people could understand a little bit more than with a long and annoying speech.
